A little bit more about me
My name is Jess and I am a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a lover. I am a student of life. I teach yoga, work with Reiki energy, provide sound healings, and curate healing and wellness spaces and retreats. I am passionate about movement, about breath, and about tapping into our innate wisdom within. Soaking in the sunshine, winter plunges into the lake, and roaming the mountains with my dogs are what fill my cup up! My heart is full when I am surrounded by loved ones and quality time is my love language.
I was originally born in Napa, California, but soon set roots in Lake Tahoe, Nevada when I was young. The mountains always called to my mother and now I get why. The mountains carry such potent vibrations, healings, and lessons. No matter where in the world I travel to, Lake Tahoe will always be my place of solace, of peace, of replenishment, of home.
After graduating from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a B.S. in Hospitality, I set off on a 5-year journey abroad working in international sustainable development. Some places that now carry pieces of my heart include Laos, Thailand, Tanzania, and Hawai’i. I took with me lessons of community, of the profound act of simply sharing a meal with another human being, how less is usually more, how your new best friend could be hiding in a small country you’ve never heard of, and that laughter breaks down any language barrier. But I discovered I had not been taking care of myself and my balance within was disrupted. I battled with mental health issues and decided to take the first steps forward on this lifetime journey of healing - of returning back home.
During this journey, I was called to complete my first yoga teacher training. This was the catalyst to the next chapter of my life. I quickly fell in love with sharing all the space and energy that helped me on my path with others searching for the same. I began to continue to seek knowledge, experiences, trainings, and lessons to not only grow myself as a healer, as a teacher, as a student, but to be a better, more loving guide, friend, and space holder.
I currently teach yoga at The Sanctuary in Kings Beach, CA as well as at High Altitude Fitness in Incline Village, NV. I am also an in-house Wellness Specialist at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe offering a variety of classes to guests including yoga, reiki, self-myofascial release, sound bath, and meditation.
